Disabled Veteran Kimberly Theresa Harper-Colucci Uses Red light therapy on her service dog GIA to help her feel better and live longer! You can help your pet live a longer, healthier life too.
Stimulating energy in cells by exposing them to wavelengths in the red and near-infrared light spectrum can amp up important biological functions. A growing body of evidence, such as the studies outlined here by photobiomodulation expert Dr. Michael R. Hamblin, shows that red light and near-infrared light therapy accomplishes this revving-up of biological functions by affecting the body at the molecular, cellular, and tissue-based level.
Red light therapy as a practice involves exposing the body over a period of time to specific wavelengths of light, the most effective of these being the 630nm to 660nm (red light) and 810nm to 850nm (NIR light) range.
Cellular energy is what helps a body thrive—not only enabling it to undertake its day-to-day functions but also perform better and even heal faster. It's easy.... If the cells are energized and live longer our pets live longer!
Red light therapy has been shown to stimulate cellular activity.
Mitochondria are organelles, or substructures, that float freely in most cells of nearly all living things. They’re often described as a cell’s powerhouse or its power plant as it is responsible for energy production in cells. These tiny, membrane-bound structures are liable for converting nutrients into chemical energy that fuels cell activity.
Jump-starting our pets internal “energy factories” for the sake of better cellular functioning is one way to promote the healing and rejuvenation of our pets' bodies. While red light therapy is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure life-threatening diseases, early research shows that the more energy we can produce by hacking into mitochondrial processes, the more biologically energized our pets' bodies will be.
“Therapeutic laser is used to treat a myriad of conditions, including osteoarthritis, intervertebral disc disease, lick granuloma, cellulitis, and others, in dogs,” says Dr. Robin Downing, hospital director of the Windsor Veterinary Clinic in Colorado.
“In fact, any place we find inflammation and/or pain, we can apply the principle of photobiomodulation,” she says.
Dr. Downing also says that laser therapy for dogs can also help with:

Therapeutic laser therapy uses light energy, which is cold or low-level, to work its “magic.” Light used at specific frequencies causes a physiological change at the cellular level, explains Dr. Troy, an integrative veterinary practitioner.
These changes can include replenishing adenosine triphosphate (ATP, the molecule that carries energy in the cells of every living being), reducing inflammation and decreasing pain transmission.
While the exact method of action for laser therapy has not yet been identified, it is thought that, in essence, it provides a “jump start” to the cells needed for healing and other body processes.

660nm is the red light that can be seen. It focuses its energy on the skin and its circulation.
660nm red-light therapy has many benefits including:
660nm Red-Light Therapy is best for healing, superficial scar tissue, burns, cosmetic issues, skin conditions, and other non-structural issues.
